We have never been fans of the winter season because of the cold and the dark days but recently we have discovered the beauty and depth in this season. There is a slowing down that happens in winter, the trees lose their leaves and dig their roots in deeper, the sun sets earlier making the sky dark to prepare for rest and hibernation, the clouds blanket the earth with white snow making the world softer and more quiet. It's a season of intimacy. Heading indoors to be with the ones you love and making time and space for togetherness. This song follows a story of a winter as lovers. Their eyes and hearts are for each other as they remember their journey into the depths of winter and their gratefulness for one another in the season.
May you find yourself in this winter season, chasing after stories of love with God, yourself and others.
lyrics
I recall the winter
Colors fade from brown to grey and white
I still see your skin blush, in the light
And I remember
Sounds grew faint as the earth fell asleep
I still hear your footsteps, through the trees
Bundled up out in the snow
Let’s get lost where no one knows
Watch our breath, let it in, then let it out
The world is dying but I’m alive (in Winter, in Winter)
The world is dying but I’m alive
The world is dying but I’m alive (in Winter, in Winter)
The world is dying but I’m alive with You
I recall the winter
The mountain sits above the frozen lake
I still feel your warm kiss on my face
And I remember
We were lying under starry skies
Clinging to each other in the night
Firelight, you cover me
Your hands whisper selflessly
Warmed by love, I breathe you in then breathe you out
The world is dying but I’m alive (in Winter, in Winter)
The world is dying but I’m alive
The world is dying but I’m alive (in Winter, in Winter)
The world is dying but I’m alive
The world is dying but I’m alive (in Winter, in Winter)
The world is dying but I’m alive with You
